Merry Christmas (late)

Merry Christmas (late)! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. We had a great time. Chad was actually off Christmas Eve and Christmas Day for the first time ever. Bryce was so excited and surprised opening his gifts! Watching him was just so precious. He is always so appreciative for his gifts and I love that about him.

We had a good time with both familes. Lots of good times, laughs, food and gifts! All 4 of the nephews and 1 niece on my side of the family spent the night with Bryce on the 26th. Chad was at work so it was me against the 6 wild ones. They are all between 9 and 4 years old. They were really good and we had a great time. Those of you that really know me, know that people in my house totally freaks me out. I just feel on edge the entire time. This sleep over was spur of the moment so I didn't have time to think about it or freak out until they were there. I actually did ok. I even shocked myself. Nothing was broken ;) so I'm very thankful for that! I'll try to post some pics this week! I didn't take very many pics this year, not sure what was wrong with me!

If I don't post again before - Happy New Year! I hope you will all have a blessed 2009!

ALIVE!

Yes, I'm still alive for those of you that wondered :) Thanks for the emails checking on me!

Life continues to be very busy - Bryce is playing basketball and indoor soccer. I am so very proud of him! He's on a U9 soccer team (he's 6) so he's learning a lot and he's hanging with the big boys very well!

On the TTC front - as if you aren't sick of hearing about it :) I think I am finally in a place where I'm ok with being done. I kept the infant nursery at church last night and while I loved every second of holding those babies, I think I can move on. Think being the key word. We'll see in time if I'm really ready to let go or not. This has been such a hard, humbling and painful journey. I have learned a lot of important lessons thru this.

I hate to always be a downer but I got some really sad news Friday that I hope you guys will pray about. A co-worker's 14 year old daughter was killed late Thursday. She and a friend were at Hardee's waiting on the friend's mom to pick them up to take them to dance. When the mom pulled in, she missed the brake and pinned the girl between the car and the building killing her immediately. She was an only child conceived by IVF, a true miracle baby. I know both families are devastated. Please pray for them. That has really helped open my eyes to how truly blessed I am.

On to happier things....anyone planning on going to Scrap Etc in Atlanta next year? I'd really like to go but not sure I can swing it. Atlanta would ROCK though!

Random

So, once again, a week between posts. Life is just crazy at times.

Bryce's sports are still going great. He has 3 more football games, 4 more soccer games and then we're done....until basketball season that is.

Several people have asked about Chad, he is doing well as long as he takes his meds when he's supposed to ;) he goes back for a check up soon.

I've missed the last 3 days of work with a %*$#) kidney stone. I finally passed it a little while ago and feel much better but very tired. I missed Bryce being announced on the football field at the high school game tonight so I'm totally bummed about that.

A little heart to heart.....As most of you know, it was a long, 2 year struggle to get pregnant with Bryce. I am soooo very blessed to have him in my life and I praise and thank God for giving me such a wonderful child. We tried for almost a year starting last August, to have another baby. So 1 year, 2 IUI's (sorry for too much info) later, we have not been able to have another child. I still desire another child so badly that it hurts. I had to keep the infant nursery at church Sunday night and just smelling the babies brought me to tears. Chad has really moved on from the idea and has come to peace with the fact that its just not going to happen. I, on the other hand, have not been able to find that peace. I have prayed and begged God to please either give me the baby that I want so badly OR give me the peace to move on. There are days when I get sooo mad and frustrated that other people seem to be able to have babies by just looking at each other. People that don't care about and love their children, can pop them out like its nobodies business. I just don't understand, I really don't. I know that God is perfect and has a reason for everything, its just hard to see it at times. Ok, not sure why I felt the need to share that with you guys but I hope that you will pray for me.

Love you guys! Have a great weekend!

Bryce had his school pictures Friday - here is a pic I took of him that morning

And, this is what I did with my night alone last night! Felt so good to do something scrappy!!

Have a great weekend!!

So.....

Its Friday - yay!! I've been lacking on the blog psoting because there has been a lot going on so I'll try to fill you in a little.

First, I told you that I would let you know about Chad's tests, etc. We didn't get very good news but its definitely not as bad as it could have been. Seems he has chronic ulcerative colitis. Being a RN and knowing what this can potentially mean in his future, he was really upset with the news initially. He is handling it better now and the meds they have him on seem to be controlling the symptoms well for now. We are very thankful for that. This means that he is always at risk for a flare up, he is at a higher risk for colon cancer and will have to have routine colonoscopies often. Potentially it can affect him very little or a lot depending on how things go. Your prayers would be appreciated.

Second, Bryce and sports. Good gravy that kid is keeping me busy! He is still playing fall soccer and football. Still loves both and keeps us busy almost every evening. He has homework every night so trying to balance that with practice and games proves to be challenging some days. He and Chad had to have a come to Jesus meeting about both of their attitudes about sports. It got ugly this week but I think they've finally talked through it. They are both soooo competitive and stubborn that they don't see eye to eye at times.

Third, the diet world. Well, there is a program that is all the rage here. Everyone I know that has been on it has lost tons of weight. Well, I've been on it for a while and I've been walking most days of the week and haven't lost a thing. After doing some research I think that stupid Adrenal gland deal from the summer has affected me more than I realized. Seems when you have adrenal gland failure, you can't lose wait like other people. So, I've found an adrenal gland support/weight loss pill at GNC that I'm going to try to see if that helps at all. Why can't my body do anything right?!?!?!

Fourth, work. It has calmed down some. We start new software on the 14th so I'm sure there will be some kinks with that. Looks like I'll be in my current job for about 6 more weeks and then we'll see where we are in regards to me switching to my new position. With the current market, I'm very afraid that there will not be enough loan volume for me to go into the planned position so please pray that something great will work out! I'm secretly hoping they will make me the marketing person for the Western team of the Secondary Mortgage Dept!

Guess that's enough rambling for today ;) Hope you have a great weekend! GO HOKIES!!!

Recap

Well, its been a busy couple of days here....pics are out of order so the story will be too....

Tonight was the first flag football game of the season, Bryce can't wait until next year so he can play pads/helmets :) Their team only had the ball on offense a total of 4 times because the other team was so slow at setting up their plays - it literally took them over 10 minutes to run 4 plays, soooo frustrating. Anyway, Bryce played awesome on defense! He scored one of his teams 3 touchdowns. They seriously only got to run about 7 plays on offense - they would score as soon as they got the ball. They are the maroon team - he's #5, like Tyrod!

2nd soccer game - 8:15 am on Saturday - urghhhhhh. They tied 3-3, Bryce scored 2 of his team's goals!

Big B suckered his way in to coming home with us on Saturday because he wanted me to cut his hair - he ended up staying with us most of the weekend. Bryce loves for him to come, they have so much fun. Bryce was completely exhausted and grumpy by the time Big B left so he decided on his own that he needed to go spend some time alone in his room. He was REALLY quiet for a while so Chad went to check on him and look what he found!! Bryce had handcuffed himself and fallen asleep the wrong way in his bed - LOL!!! Can't wait to pull these pics out when he gets married ;)

So, that's a quick recap of life here. We have soccer practice this week and then a soccer and a football game on Saturday. The football team is supposed to walk in VT's homecoming parade but Bry has a soccer game during it so we'll be doing soccer.

Catch up with you guys later this week!

Is it really Wednesday already!??!?!

This week has flown by!!! We moved our offices today to another floor in the building. I like my new office, I still have a big window with a view, nicer furniture and 2 big book cases to put Bryce's pictures in!!

Getting up Saturday morning about killed me :) Bryce scored 4 of his team's 5 goals. They won 5-4. Here is what our very foggy morning looked like (Bryce is #9 on the "teal" team)

Soooo.....

This week has been insane. Chad was in the ER this week, had to take off yesterday to take him for more tests. We'll know results next week and I'll share with you guys then.

Bryce has had soccer or football practice every day. He has his first soccer game at 8:15 tomorrow morning - who in the heck sets these games at the crack of dawn?!?! I'm usually not even thinking about being awake at 8:15 on a Saturday much less being up, showered and dressed then!!! Sheesh, I'm sure I'll be a bottle of sunshine - LOL. Every week after this, Bryce will have a soccer and a football game on Saturday mornings so hopefully the times won't conflict. His football team looks pretty good so far so I'm anxious to see them play!!

On the work front, it got VERY ugly but is okay now. I will just say that I can't stand it when people lie so I was pretty fired up....We are moving our offices to another floor on Tuesday and have a tradeshow on Thursday so it will be a busy week. Overall I feel better about things and hope the next several months will go smoothly.

At least the week is halfway over :)

That sounds like a jolly title doesn't it? I absolutely can't wait for this week to be over. Work has been torture. I've been in tears multiple times. I'll be glad when the merger drama is over and things are somewhat normal which will probably be at least November for me. Please pray for me, I'm truly having a really difficult time dealing with it all.

On to slightly happier news, even though VT got their butts beat on Saturday, it opened Beamer's eyes to see that Glennon is just not a good QB and Tyrod's redshirt has been removed - yippeeeee!!!! Chad is taking Bryce to the game Saturday and I'm going to stay home and scrapbook or cook. They will enjoy a boys day and I'll enjoy a day at home to myself :)

Now, you noticed I said cook above. Can someone please come take my temperature?!?! I don't think I have ever in my life been in the mood to cook but I am for some strange reason. I found several new recipes that I want to try so I hope they turn out well so I'll actually have a positive cooking experiece, that really doesn't happen very often!!

Bryce is not wanting to do AWANAS again this year at church. I'm really not sure how I feel about this. Last year, he didn't want to do it and I didn't make him. I figured starting a full 5 day kindergarten was enough for his poor 5 year old body. And its not that he doesn't/can't learn the verses. He's very capable of doing it but he doesn't like the fun part of AWANAS either - playing games, etc. So, last year, he sat in church with me on Wednesday nights and it usually went pretty well. I really think he is like me and Chad in that he does not like to be put on the spot. I can quote Bible verses all day in my head but if someone asks me to quote one in a classroom environment, I totally freeze and so does Chad so I honestly think that is part of Bryce's problem too. Even though he's not nearly as shy as he once was, he's just not that kind of kid. Soooo, I really don't know what to do this year - any advice? I will tell you that I am really having issues with being motivated to drive 25 minutes to church on Wednesday nights after working all day, coming home to cram in dinner and Bryce's homework before we leave -- and Chad usually works on Wednesday nights so its me doing it all by myself. I was raised going to church twice on Sundays and every Wednesday night, no questions asked so I am struggling with this in a major way. I know I should go to church every service but its sooo hard. I am truly contemplating getting an age appropriate boys devotional book with questions and memory verses in it and Bryce and I just doing it at home on Wednesdays and then practicing the verse all week. Please give me some feedback on how you feel about this and deal with these situations. I am responsible for his little soul at this point and don't want to screw up!!!

Sorry that got so long today! When I sat down to blog, I didn't think I was going to have much to say ;)

Thursday!!!

Well, this week has gone by pretty quickly so I'm very thankful for that! Its been cool and rainy here for the past couple of days so that always affects how I feel, I'm ready for the rain to go away!!! Went for my weekly follow up with the dr today and he said I have regressed some so that's not good. He said stress plays a large part in that so that explains it. There is work drama galore here right now with the merger. We are getting totally new software and are moving our department by the middle of September and training hasn't even begun. Multiple cat fights over offices and cubicles, etc. I'll be glad when that is over and done with!

Bryce has had a great week at school so far. They learned about manure this week (I know, nice, huh!?!) so everything he talks about has to have the word manure somewhere in the topic. His teacher is awesome. She has him so excited about learning, he's not even complaining about his homework! She jokes and talks sports with him so she is just the perfect fit for him. She is a West Va fan so she told Bryce the other day that Va Tech was manure and he told her West Va was manure :) He wore a blue and yellow Jordan outfit the other day and she told him thank you for wearing West Va colors - and he quickly came back that blue and gold are our high school colors too and that's why he was wearing it!

Tomorrow is jeans day at work - woohoo!! I love me some jeans!

Anybody have any big weekend plans? We don't really have any big plans. Chad is off for the long weekend (he's a RN so I was afraid he would have to work) so it will be nice to have the fam together. Va Tech plays on Saturday so that will take up most of our day! Can't wait - GO HOKIES!! Although, I am afraid this year isn't lookin' so hot, I guess we'll see. I can't believe they are red shirting Tyrod, that's just a crime, we all know how I like Tyrod! He's actually a very nice guy too unlike Sean Glennon. We went to a Hokie Kids Club autograph day and I was not impressed with Sean at all, I thought he was very cocky and rude, this is a KIDS event for goodness sakes! Tyrod on the other hand was super cordial and chatted with Bryce and posed for photos. I'll have to post one if I think about it when I get home. I plan on doing a whole Hokie album from the autograph day. Bryce is positive that he is going to play for the Hokies one day - I hope his dream will come true for him. If he keeps the athletic pace that he does now, I definitely think it could be a possibility for him. The child's main Christmas wish was a REAL football helmet, not a play one. So most of his Christmas gifts were football related - shoulder pads, helmet, pants, pads and Under Armor galore - he couldn't have been more thrilled and puts on the uniform at least 3 days a week so he can "practice" - how funny! I'm expecting great things from this kid!!

Have a great long weekend!!!

In other news, who in the world knew that first graders have homework and didn't tell me?!?! This is going to be a tough year I'm afraid. Bryce does not like homework at all and procrastinates until the last minute. As you know, he got this from his father and not me. Drives me insane. We're going to have to come up with an incentive/punishment plan. Any ideas? One of his assignments has been that he has to read to me for 15 minutes each night, he is actually doing better reading than I thought he would. It makes me sad to think my baby can actually read - I guess he's not really a baby anymore, huh?

Hope you have a fab weekend!

Here it is....

Pics of Bryce on his first day of first grade with his Jordan outfit and backpack!!

Back to School

Bryce started back to school today. He looked a little nervous this morning but did NOT want me to walk him in. You know, he's too cool for mom and dad in public now. I think of myself as a pretty cool mom, I keep up with fashion, always wear makeup and nice clothes when I go out but for some reason I still embarrass the crap outta that kid. He literally walks 5 feet in front or behind me. He does it to Chad too so at least I'm not alone! He is such a cuttle bug when he's home that it surprises me that he's so distant in public! Oh well, I guess I'm getting prepared for the teenage years!

I'll post a pic tonight when I'm home.

If anyone out there knows how to make those flavored, chocolate dipped spoons that people use for coffee, let me know, I have a question ;)

Tuesday ramblings

Well, we met Bryce's teacher last night and she seems WONDERFUL. I am confident that he will have another good year. She immediately got down on his level and talked to him. She even asked him if he played any sports, so he immediately lit up, she said if he would bring her his schedule that she would come watch a game. He was thrilled with that, the more fans of Bryce at the game, the better. He seriously has a complex about this. Its not enough for Chad and I to come, grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, Sunday school teachers, etc are always invited by Bryce because he loves a crowd - but don't worry, if you happen to miss a game, he thinks you can catch it on tv!!!! Too funny! He has a few kids in his class that he knows but not some of his favorite friends from last year.

Chad finished putting Bryce's basketball goal up yesterday (his bday present from MAY!!) So, at 9:30 last night Bryce was out shooting in the dark. It looks really good, Chad still needs to put the pavers and rock around it but its usable now so Bryce is happy.

Bryce lost his 4th tooth last night. I'll post a pic soon. This is the only one he hasn't cried about. The tooth was so loose that it was pretty much just hanging (gross, I know) so he told Chad to sit on him and pull it. It came out easily but bled quite a bit. He was really excited about losing this one. The tooth fairy came last night so he was up early this morning to see how much $ she left :)

Well, the boss is out of the office for the next 3 days so I have a bunch of her work today so I better get to it. Have a super day!

Happy Monday!

Yeah, not so much. I dread Mondays!!

We had a great weekend. We did lady B's birthday party at the pool and that's always fun. We went out with Chad's family to eat after church yesterday. I'm not a huge fan of O'Charleys but that's where lady B chose. Bryce was the center of attention as always. That child is spoiled completely rotten! He's the baby on Chad's side of the family so he's the "STAR" and he knows it. We gave lady B money for her birthday so she could buy some more school clothes and Bryce was trying to talk her into buying HIM a toy with HER birthday money and she was going to do it! We had to quickly squash that!

Bryce is going to meet his first grade teacher tonight. Can you believe he's already in first grade?!?!? I don't know anything about his teacher but I hope he will have a great one like last year. He hates school (he's gonna be a jock, not a scholar ;) ) He starts school on Wednesday, I dread getting him up early again, the only time we really bump heads is in the morning when I have to get him up and dressed early.

He's very excited about football and soccer starting. My schedule is about to get very hectic!! I do love watching him play sports even though I'm incredibly nervous while he's out there. His life truly revovles around sports, he's always kicking or throwing a ball at home. Chad gets a little out of hand watching Bryce at times, they are both sooooo competitive that they really get into it. Chad has trouble controling his mouth at times - they are little kids for goodness sakes, its not the super bowl ;) I am one proud momma when my boy scores goals and touchdowns though!!

Back to your reguarly scheduled programming! Have a blessed day!

A little scrap for ya!

I did these while I was under the weather so take that for what its worth. And the pics suck, I can't get one without a glare inside and its raining outside.

Bryce's school album (8x8 american crafts)

Bryce's spring soccer team

Bryce's horrible experience losing his first tooth - doesn't even look like the same kid afterwards, does he?!?

The B's - Brett, Brittany, Brendon and Bryce (cousins)

Thanks for looking!

2 Days in a row, can you believe it??

Well, I think I've set a new record with blogging 2 days in a row - LOL!

Second day back at work and I'm ready for the weekend for sure! This place is just one big ball of stress!

Last night when I got home from work, Bryce ran to meet me with a hug and that totally made my day. I think he's gotten much more attached to me with the time I spent at home this summer. He's usually a big time daddy's boy. It was so great but at the same time it broke my heart to know how much closer we could be if I could stay home all the time. I would definitely do things differently if I could start over.

I scrapbooked some last night and that was great therapy - Bryce helped, that's always entertaining. I lost a note that Bryce wrote to the toothfairy and its about to drive me nuts trying to find it. It was precious and needs to go in his scrapbook!! Wanna come help me look??!?!? I'll try to post some stuff I've done recently this weekend.

This weekend is Brittany's pool party but that's about all we have planned. Chad has to work so its me and the little man on our own. Bryce starts 1st grade next Wednesday - it doesn't seem possible that he is that old yet - time truly flies once you have kids.

On the TTC front, several people have asked so here's the scoop: we are not preventing but we are not trying either. I'm really praying for a miracle that I know God can provide. After the 2 failed IUI's and all the health issues, we figured we will put it in God's hands (which it really has been all along) and if He decides to bless us with another child then we will be thrilled, if He doesn't then we know that it was just not in His plan for our lives.

Sorry for the novel today, guess I should get to work, huh? Peace!

I'm BAAAAAACK

Did you wonder what happened to me???!?!? Well, most of you know that I've been a little under the weather for the last few months. I am very thankful to be feeling better and I know that God has a purpose for everything so I'm open and ready to learn what He wants out of this.

Being out of work for almost 2 months was not planned at all but with the illness it was my only choice. I am so happy that I was able to spend the majority of the summer with Bryce even though I didn't feel well, we spent a lot of time together and really enjoyed ourselves. My mom made sure we got out of the house pretty often and did some fun things. We did several pool trips with me basically resting and mom chasing Bryce but I think that was enjoyed by all. I am already missing all of the time I got to spend with my mom. I truly couldn't have gotten thru the last 2 months without her. This past week I actually felt pretty good at home and got a lot of things accomplished. I could have used another few weeks to "have fun" (aka scrapbook) at home.

I really got pretty used to being home. When Bryce was little and I stayed home for a few months, I was itching to get back to work for adult interaction but now that he's 6 - its kind of like having an adult around. He is such a smart and caring boy. I could really dig being a stay at home mom now but that decision has been long gone financially for years. But that's my wanna be thing for today, I wanna be a stay at home mom.

Friday, June 20, 2008

Well, after much encouragement, I have started a personal blog - welcome :)

The title, "Life of a Wanna Be" seems to describe my life right now

I wanna be a better christian
I wanna be a better housekeeper
I wanna be more organized
I wanna be a better mother
I wanna be healthy
I wanna be a better wife
I wanna be more positive about my job
I wanna be more creative with my scrapbooking

So, there you have it, my life as a "wanna be"
